Piles | The Onslaught of Change

I’m getting rid of so much of it, and I don’t consider myself a “stuff” gal.

I’m not a clothes horse, I make regular excursions to offload at the GoodWill (my second home).

I’m new at this. Moving and getting rid of everything. I’ve heard of people doing it, and I’ve moved several times, but this time around I have furniture that I carefully found at thrift stores, fixed up, repurposed, upcycled, cherished, and now, a whopping two years later, I’m letting it go. I’m a damn Frozen song.

Culled Smattering

I’ve already sold and parted from so many things, and now it’s down to the nitty gritty- handwritten cards I’ve received over the years, wedding invitations, pictures, old DVDs? What does a person do with DVDs these days other than decoupage?

Also my plants. Also my Bridesmaid dresses. Can I get money for them? Will I regret getting rid of them? And where am I going? I don’t have anything lined up, I don’t even have my TEFL exam completed. WHAT AM I DOING.

Threshing Floor

No need for my stash of recycled gift bags, my woven basket that holds my blankets, what about my memory boxes of middle school photos, my old pair of glasses to prove how blind I used to be, and my Vocalist trophy from the 7th grade?

I think I should either burn it all or keep it all, but this middle-ground of partially populated keepsake collections is for the birds.

And I have a cat. And a collage of old technology that I displayed in a glass case- my first and most recent digital camera before the iPhone sweep. My word search clock.

I do sound like a packrat BUT I’M NOT. I get rid of things all the time!!

My tile floor is littered with belongings, post-ablation, and indecision rests like dew over the rest.

A culled smattering.
